03  Who will I be teaching?

The majority of our students are professionals from the ages of 22-65. However, we also attract students wishing to improve  their English in hopes of studying overseas or becoming more marketable once they enter the workforce. Most students have  studied English during their academic careers, but lack proficient conversational skills. For our Jr brand, you will be teaching  children from the age of 7 to 16. These students study English in school but need conversational practice.

04   What will I be teaching in a session?

Lesson plans are supplied through TutorGroup's learning system. Teachers are automatically provided with appropriate    lesson plans for each class, based on the students' ability level and individual backgrounds. Our material has been designed  to discuss various topics, ranging from business English to specific topics to everyday conversations. They provide our  students with the opportunity to learn new vocabulary and expressions while practicing their listening and speaking skills. All  of our lessons contain the necessary language foci and goals appropriate for our student's ability and development. As a  result, our materials provide our students with a well-rounded learning experience.

05   What teaching styles are promoted at TutorGroup?

The sessions we offer our students are conversation-based. Therefore, teachers are required to create a friendly and open  environment which all students can be participate equally. It is important to understand that we do not promote lecture style

learning. On the contrary, we expect our teachers to foster interaction between students. Teacher-talk-time should always be  at a minimum and focused towards setting up an activity or exercise, in addition to offering appropriate feedback which follow  the aims of any particular lesson. If you are accepted into our training program you will have the opportunity to observe some  of our top-rated sessions from our experienced teachers. Peer-observation as well as self-observations are methods we  employ to better prepare new and old teachers of TutorGroup.

06   How much am I paid?

Regular consultants are paid on a monthly basis. ELITE, TESOL and TEFL certified consultants however are paid a base rate for each class attended and taught. Base rates are determined by experience and other  qualifications. Additionally, there is the opportunity to earn bonuses based upon both the number of students in a class and  the ratings awarded consultants in the students' class feedback.

A summary of all the sessions you've taught and the ratings you received are accessible from our on-line system to see your  total monthly pay. For monthly teacher payments, we use bank transfers depending on the individual  and country. This system will be explained and discussed further with successful applicants.
